BBQ with the buddies~

Had our almost annual BBQ session with the usual buddies. This time round Ian and Sharon can't join us cuz Ian is flying and Sharon has some duties at work... But a few Invites were given out and we have a few new faces joining us this time round. In attendance were:
1. ME~
2. Andrew
3. Chin Lee
4. Howe
5. Alvin Teo
6. Suresh
7. Lawrence
8. Edmund
9. Paul (Edmund's UK friend)
10. Nicolas (Edmund's UK friend)
11. Jas
12. Elaine
13. Chuiling
14. Anne
15. Martin

We were having a damn fun time as usual and it was really great catching up with all the friends once again...
Martin and me...
Chuiling and Andrew...
Andrew, Howe and Anne...
Paul, Nic, Edmund and Chin Lee....
Suresh and me...
Elaine and Jas...
The amount of alcohol they brought was ridiculous (this was part of it)~! We are having BBQ, not clubbing leh~! hahaha.... But we still managed to finish everything... =P
Chef of the day~! Chin Lee was doing 90% of the cooking... seems like he is having so much fun... I did my part too! By eating the things he cooks so as to ensure no wastage of food.... hahaha...
The guys....
The ladies....
Me, Howe, Alvin Teo and Andrew...
Lawrence doing his part to make up for coming late....=P
Preparing to get drunk....
And Andrew got the first King's cup.... hahaha... a mixture of chivas, jim bean, baileys and a few other kinds of alcohol which I forgot.... yucks~!

Want more photos? Check it out here: http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f175/alvin176/BBQ%202007/

As usual, we can't hang around at my place for too long cuz the irritating security guard will keep coming to bug us to keep quiet. Eventually, we gotta move away cuz some bugger call the police to complain that we were making too much noise.... =P
The day would have been great if not because I was shouted at for no reason. We were supposed to clear the place, so it is normal that I throw away the stuffs that we no longer need. So what's wrong with me throwing away the ice? Clear the table, throw away the paper cups, plates and fork, throw away the uneaten food, throw away the ice, arrange the table and bring back the rest of the things we want.... isn't that the normal thing? What's wrong with that? And I just gotta be screamed at for throwing the ice away! Don't we have enough ice? I still have 2 big bags sitting in the fucking fridge and whoever wants it can be my guest and take it.
I fucking hate this feeling of being taken for granted, always being scolded for no fucking reason. I keep my cool and back off every time because I find no need to quarrel over small issues and jeopardize the r/s. Maybe that's why I am asking for it? Cuz whatever happens, I'll always be the easiest person to be lashed at? -___-""""

The day I learned how to make proper pasta....

Its a Sunday. A day to relax and laze around at home. Don't feel like going anywhere, thus decided to hang out at Andrew's place to cook lunch and watch VCD. Bought the stuffs at NTUC and we went straight into action~!
Since Andrew is a Chef, he shall do all the cooking..... =P
And me being a noob, shall do the preparation.... hehehe...

2 men cooking for Jas to eat.... hahaha... good life ah~!
And the end product... delicious meal for 3, for less than 25 bucks....

New Camera~!

Finally got my new camera after sooooo long... Its a Canon Powershot A570 IS. Got it at $369 from Comex 2007. After much survey and reading up of reviews, I concluded that this is the best camera my limited budget can buy.

Wanted to go to Zouk after that cuz of some Guest DJ thingy... But decided against it in the end partly because the queue was damn long and partly because I was simply too lazy to club. Hang around with Andrew and Chuiling at the Coffeeshop opposite Zouk and decided to test my camera..... =P
After Andrew and Chuiling went on to Zouk, me and Jas went over to Elaine's house to play mahjong. I didn't play cuz there was already enough people, so I ended up watching TV while they play...
They were drinking beer as they played and very soon Elaine and Geok became drunk.... And they started to do weird things.....
They didn't played too long and we went home at about 2am... Wanted to park at Jas's house and sleep-over, but I'm glad I didn't..... If not..... my vehicle might be part of this mess....
Yes~! This happened at the Multi-Storey Carpark where I always park my car/bike when i go Jas's place.... These people really have nothing better to do... Keep going everywhere to burn people's bike...

Just for Laugh... =D

A wife was very unhappy with her slow bike and complained a lot to her husband . Knowing her birthday was coming up shortly, she said to her husband... ' Buy me a surprise for my birthday . Something that accelerates from 0 to 100 in 2 seconds! And I would prefer a blue one! '
Happy and excited she was counting the days to her birthday.
And on the day she finally got the beautiful present her husband thoughtfully bought....

After so long...

Finally giving my blog a new post after soooooo long.... really don't have the luxury to blog after I'm posted to my current position... sianz.. Time is precious and there's just so much to do.
Let me just take this opportunity to update whatever I can remember~!

1. Congrats to Charlene. Finally married to Royston. Hope both of you can live happily ever after. I think their wedding photos are super cool. Especially the ones which they took in one of the Starbucks, in their Starbucks working dress-code and apron. That's where they met and that's the best place to take wedding photos for memory~! It was also a great time for me to catch up with lots of friends from Starbucks. Really miss the time when we had so much fun working together at Starbucks Millenia Walk... =)
Me, Francis and Fazli @ the Wedding Dinner.... Its at Hyatt Hotel and its very nice~ =)

2. SIM-UOl-SRC Freshmen Orientation Camp 2007~
Went over to Aloha Loyang to show some support for the 2007/2008 Excos who are organising the camp. They used the exact same location as us last year and it brings back plenty of nice memories. Cheers to the Excos~!

3. SIM Orientation Bash at Butterfactory~
As usual, there is the Orientation Bash after the camp. A good time to catch up with a lot of friends. Quite fun and we managed to drag Caroline to the dance floor~ haha....
It's party time~!

3. My little girl has been away to Hong Kong for about 5 days now... Miss her soooooo much~! =( She's coming back in a few hours time and I will be going to pick her up at the airport... Counting down.... haha... =P

Ah shit... I am getting lazy again... don't feel like typing anymore. And if you are wondering where there are less photos these days, its because my stupid camera is spoiled... sianz... and I sold away my camera phone since I can't use it.. so yeah, that explains. Anyone wanna by me a camera? hahahaha.... =P

IPPT Silver~!!!

Been stuck on this little island for about 2 weeks for now... The daily routine is getting rather boring. But then again, its always the people you work with that determines whether the place is fun or not. The people I work with are generally alright. Relax and always full of craps. When it comes to work, they are proficient and know what to do and know what they are doing. Anyway, how difficult can it be, doing what it are doing.

The trainees are generally okie too. I mean, they are blur, yes. But that's normal considering that most trainees are always blur or don't know what they are doing. They are also getting weaker too. One guy can come up to me to report sick for the tiny little blister on his palm... Its so tiny that he gotta point to me before I can really spot the blister...*faintz* Gone are the days when trainees endure all the pain to go through trainings with pride. Oh well, its really up to them. I am not going to force them or anything. I will just train those who are willing to work hard and takes personal pride in their own development. Those who wanna quit at the slightest pain, so be it. They shape their own future...

I took my IPPT today and I'm glad that I can still get a Silver grade despite slacking in SIM for the last 9 mths... haha... got at least 4 points for all my 4 static station. And as usual, I didn't do very well for running... just managed a 3 points. Yeah~! Don't have to worry about IPPT anymore... next up will be SOC.... sianz...

Think again...

For those who think that they can play punk on the road and for those who think they have eagle eyes which can spot those TPs in white and evade them... think again....
Look at the number plate~! TP gets into STEALTH MODE. Who says TP cannot ride BLACK bike.... The next time you see a black colour bike coming up fast and furious from behind... think twice before you step on the accelerator to race with him.... that might be your last race..... hahahaha.... (PS: To all cars driver, you will lose the race cuz this is a VFR800...not the 125cc Kup you always see on the road)

An Island Life...

Posted to a little island off the shore of Singapore for my vacation attachment this time round. The only reason why I don't like that place is because I gotta take a boat ride every time to reach my work place. The rest of it is still quite okie I guess... just a matter of getting used to.

24km route march last Friday. It was tiring but manageable. Got some blisters on my foot probably because my socks are too smooth and my boots a bit big...too little friction and too my space for my foot to move around, thus causing the blisters...

New batch coming in and that will mean 2 weeks of confinement... sianz...

In respond to Michelle's comment in the tagboard:
Theories aside, I don't drink like an alcoholic, I don't smoke, I'm not a clubbing addict, I don't gamble, and I don't go crazy over soccer. My only interest is bike. It is dangerous, yes. But it is a healthy interest. Everyone needs to have something they enjoy doing. Girls like branded stuffs, like shopping, manicures etc. Guys like sports, cars, computer games etc. Why can't I be allowed to like what i like? Riding is more dangerous? You mean driving means you are safer? I hardly think so. Riding is not MORE dangerous. It is just more unforgiving when things happen. Which is why blur people should never ride, so as not to be a road hazard.

I respect Jas decision not to ride with me. Cuz afterall, riding is my own interest and I would not force her to like riding just because I like riding. I will drive her around or take public transport with her if she want. But asking me to give up my interest is just unreasonable. It will not happen, so stop trying.

I believe in a relationship, its not about changing someone to suit your lifestyle, but rather, learning to live with each other, compromise, and love your partner for who he/she is. You love him/her for who he/she is. Not for what he/she can become of. Not for how well he/she can change to suit your life. Such things are never easy and were never meant to be easy to begin with. Which is why human interaction is so interesting. It takes 2 hands to clap. If a couple love each other, they will both put in effort to make sure the relationship works. If either one becomes half-hearted and refuse to work things out, things will never work out.

So to all out there. Are you looking for someone who is customised to your requirements? If you are, then stop looking amongst the seas of people because it is not human companionship you are looking for. What you need is a robot which you can programme. And hopefully, you will live happily ever after with it (provided it don't break down).

The Balance Theory

Taking public transport once a while lets me greatly appreciate having my own transport. No offense to those who have to take public transport everyday, but I really cannot tahan the great variety of smell when squeezing inside the MRT~! Sweaty bodies, plastic bags full of weird things with weird smell etc etc etc.... wah.... *faintz*

Jas's not allowed to ride on my bike anymore. I'm very upset but then again, its all in the interest of her safety. We'll just work things out as they come along... This suddenly reminds me of something I studied in my Elements of Social and Applied Psychology... Let me elaborate the Balance Theory, work of Heider (1946) and extended by Cartwright and Harary (1956). The general approach is that perceptions of people, objects and events make up a person's cognitive field - the content of a person's mind.

Balance Theory focuses on:
- P - the person
- O - another person
- X - an attitude
The set of 3 traids is said to be consistent if it is balanced. Balance is assessed by counting the number of types of relationships between the elements. P liking X is (+) relationship, O disliking X is (-), and P disliking O is (-). Altogether, there are 8 possible combinations of relationships between two people and the attitude object. 4 are balanced and 4 unbalanced.

In short, unbalanced triads makes people feel tense and motivates them to restore balance (Jordan,1953). Balance will be restored in whichever manner that requires least effort. When triads are unbalanced it also means that there are inconsistencies and human beings do not like inconsistencies. Therefore they will do something about it. People do not always resolve inconsistencies. They organize their attitudes and beliefs so that elements are isolated from each other and are quite resistant to change (Abelson, 1968).

For example, if P likes golf and O does not, and if P and O like each other, P may decide to isolate the golf element from the triad by playing golf when O is not present. Applying the Balance Theory to my case. Alvin likes bikes (+). Jas doesn't like bike(-). Alvin and Jas like each other (+). So, to restore the balance, Alvin will ride bike when Jas is not present.

Kaoz... if only I can write so much so fast during the exam, I'm sure I would score better...=P
Enough crap.... zzzZZzzz

The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible.
