IPPT Silver~!!!

Been stuck on this little island for about 2 weeks for now... The daily routine is getting rather boring. But then again, its always the people you work with that determines whether the place is fun or not. The people I work with are generally alright. Relax and always full of craps. When it comes to work, they are proficient and know what to do and know what they are doing. Anyway, how difficult can it be, doing what it are doing.

The trainees are generally okie too. I mean, they are blur, yes. But that's normal considering that most trainees are always blur or don't know what they are doing. They are also getting weaker too. One guy can come up to me to report sick for the tiny little blister on his palm... Its so tiny that he gotta point to me before I can really spot the blister...*faintz* Gone are the days when trainees endure all the pain to go through trainings with pride. Oh well, its really up to them. I am not going to force them or anything. I will just train those who are willing to work hard and takes personal pride in their own development. Those who wanna quit at the slightest pain, so be it. They shape their own future...

I took my IPPT today and I'm glad that I can still get a Silver grade despite slacking in SIM for the last 9 mths... haha... got at least 4 points for all my 4 static station. And as usual, I didn't do very well for running... just managed a 3 points. Yeah~! Don't have to worry about IPPT anymore... next up will be SOC.... sianz...

Think again...

For those who think that they can play punk on the road and for those who think they have eagle eyes which can spot those TPs in white and evade them... think again....
Look at the number plate~! TP gets into STEALTH MODE. Who says TP cannot ride BLACK bike.... The next time you see a black colour bike coming up fast and furious from behind... think twice before you step on the accelerator to race with him.... that might be your last race..... hahahaha.... (PS: To all cars driver, you will lose the race cuz this is a VFR800...not the 125cc Kup you always see on the road)

An Island Life...

Posted to a little island off the shore of Singapore for my vacation attachment this time round. The only reason why I don't like that place is because I gotta take a boat ride every time to reach my work place. The rest of it is still quite okie I guess... just a matter of getting used to.

24km route march last Friday. It was tiring but manageable. Got some blisters on my foot probably because my socks are too smooth and my boots a bit big...too little friction and too my space for my foot to move around, thus causing the blisters...

New batch coming in and that will mean 2 weeks of confinement... sianz...

In respond to Michelle's comment in the tagboard:
Theories aside, I don't drink like an alcoholic, I don't smoke, I'm not a clubbing addict, I don't gamble, and I don't go crazy over soccer. My only interest is bike. It is dangerous, yes. But it is a healthy interest. Everyone needs to have something they enjoy doing. Girls like branded stuffs, like shopping, manicures etc. Guys like sports, cars, computer games etc. Why can't I be allowed to like what i like? Riding is more dangerous? You mean driving means you are safer? I hardly think so. Riding is not MORE dangerous. It is just more unforgiving when things happen. Which is why blur people should never ride, so as not to be a road hazard.

I respect Jas decision not to ride with me. Cuz afterall, riding is my own interest and I would not force her to like riding just because I like riding. I will drive her around or take public transport with her if she want. But asking me to give up my interest is just unreasonable. It will not happen, so stop trying.

I believe in a relationship, its not about changing someone to suit your lifestyle, but rather, learning to live with each other, compromise, and love your partner for who he/she is. You love him/her for who he/she is. Not for what he/she can become of. Not for how well he/she can change to suit your life. Such things are never easy and were never meant to be easy to begin with. Which is why human interaction is so interesting. It takes 2 hands to clap. If a couple love each other, they will both put in effort to make sure the relationship works. If either one becomes half-hearted and refuse to work things out, things will never work out.

So to all out there. Are you looking for someone who is customised to your requirements? If you are, then stop looking amongst the seas of people because it is not human companionship you are looking for. What you need is a robot which you can programme. And hopefully, you will live happily ever after with it (provided it don't break down).

The Balance Theory

Taking public transport once a while lets me greatly appreciate having my own transport. No offense to those who have to take public transport everyday, but I really cannot tahan the great variety of smell when squeezing inside the MRT~! Sweaty bodies, plastic bags full of weird things with weird smell etc etc etc.... wah.... *faintz*

Jas's not allowed to ride on my bike anymore. I'm very upset but then again, its all in the interest of her safety. We'll just work things out as they come along... This suddenly reminds me of something I studied in my Elements of Social and Applied Psychology... Let me elaborate the Balance Theory, work of Heider (1946) and extended by Cartwright and Harary (1956). The general approach is that perceptions of people, objects and events make up a person's cognitive field - the content of a person's mind.

Balance Theory focuses on:
- P - the person
- O - another person
- X - an attitude
The set of 3 traids is said to be consistent if it is balanced. Balance is assessed by counting the number of types of relationships between the elements. P liking X is (+) relationship, O disliking X is (-), and P disliking O is (-). Altogether, there are 8 possible combinations of relationships between two people and the attitude object. 4 are balanced and 4 unbalanced.

In short, unbalanced triads makes people feel tense and motivates them to restore balance (Jordan,1953). Balance will be restored in whichever manner that requires least effort. When triads are unbalanced it also means that there are inconsistencies and human beings do not like inconsistencies. Therefore they will do something about it. People do not always resolve inconsistencies. They organize their attitudes and beliefs so that elements are isolated from each other and are quite resistant to change (Abelson, 1968).

For example, if P likes golf and O does not, and if P and O like each other, P may decide to isolate the golf element from the triad by playing golf when O is not present. Applying the Balance Theory to my case. Alvin likes bikes (+). Jas doesn't like bike(-). Alvin and Jas like each other (+). So, to restore the balance, Alvin will ride bike when Jas is not present.

Kaoz... if only I can write so much so fast during the exam, I'm sure I would score better...=P
Enough crap.... zzzZZzzz

The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible.
