FOC 2006

After many months of planning, endless meetings and hours of hard work, the Freshmen Orientation Camp has come to an end. It was a successful one. All the activities happened according to plan. No serious injuries, less the single ambulance case on the last day after break camp. I am sure not all freshies enjoyed the camp but hopefully most of them enjoyed themselves.

Summer Escapade was a tedious event with stations stretching from one end of the beach to the other. There was a hiccup at the Telematch setting-up phase but it was quickly overcome by the hardworking and united Exco. Things do go wrong on the ground and when shit hits the fan, it is no longer about what caused it, but rather, how we solve it now. Good job by Alan Wong and Jingyue. Ben was being dragged to the sea during the debrief and the Exco was quick in trying to save him! I got wet too but that’s because I jumped in myself. Talk about one for all and all for one…. Hahaha…

Auction was fun~! I feel like some Auctioneer at a 7th Month Hungry Ghost Festival Banquet, auctioning items. Good work by Xiaoxuan. It is definitely tough to constantly keep track of all the bids.

Learning the SP dance was fun too. There were initially many doubts about whether the event will turn out ok because of the many constraints. Shirlene was really worried about whether she can pull it off within 2 hours. It turned out to be a great success. Everyone was enjoying it, laughing at themselves and looking silly. Well done to Shirlene and Cindiie!

Treasure Hunt is the most fun of all~! *at least that’s what the freshies said* Running around town to find clues to solve the mystery murderer is definitely not as easy as it seems. After so much careful planning by Sharon and Lionel, they are definitely not going to let it be easy!

SP Reveal and SP Walk is a success too. Though there are some OGs which are not so receptive initially, they eventually give it a try and enjoyed the whole fun. Thanx to Dionne and Mudd!

Not to forget the Logistic man Alan Ling. Without him, nothing can happen. It had been a hard time for him but he persevered! He’s the man! And of course, the man of the house, Ben Phay! Our boss is always there to solve problems and give directions. Thanx bro.

Oh yar~! I almost forget to mention about the special herbal tea and honey water that Shirlene and Dionne constantly made for all of us to soothe our sore throat. Without those good stuff, most of us won't be able to talk by now. Thanx!!!

The SRC Exco… the 12 Pillars of the SRC. United as one. Nothing can stop us~!

Busy with FOC....

Weeks of intense planning and meetings. Burning every Saturdays and some weekday nights to sort out all the stuff... Everyone is tired but we are all looking forward to it. Thanx Shirlene, Dionne and Cindiie for handling all the manpower and food issues. I must agree that its hell of a headache when it comes to handling people... Just looking at the number of changes they gotta make almost everyday, shows how tough it is.

Thanx to Ahmad, Jing and Alan Wong too for making the games possible. The team and their whacky ideas make the camp fun! It is never easy to come up with interesting games... especially when the targeted audiences are young adults in their 20s. Not to forget the endless contingency plans, wet weather programmes... the list is never-ending...
Oh, I won't miss out my 2 DYs too! That's how anyone would look like in school at 4pm on Saturday... The meeting starts at 9am by the way.... =P

Alan Ling is THE man! Logistic. Everything else is not possible if he's not there. The storelist looks scary enough. Making them a reality is even worse. Good job bro~!

Xiaoxuan is the silent worker, feeding us with valuable information, sourcing for manpower and everything else behind the scene. Thanx too~!

Ben, Lionel and Sharon are always there to lead the way too. Giving their total dedication to the managing of the events. Great job everyone. Alright it may seem a bit early to be praising everyone but I feel that up to this point in time, everyone has been doing a great job and they all deserve some verbal recognition at least. =)

One more week before the commencement of the FOC. Was at Pasir Ris on Saturday to do a dry run with the rest of the Exco. Going through all the activities step by step, walking from station to station, briefing everyone else about the plan. The day was super hot and we were sweating like crazy.

Shirlene and Cindiie taught us the SP dance after the recce. The initial part was pretty straight forward, but the ending part is so confusing! Okie I guess I have coordination problem... I seem to have problem managing my hands and legs all at the same time! Luckily I am not the one who is going to do the demonstration on the acutal day. Goodluck to Ben and Lionel.

On Shirlene's request, I shall not post the video on the blog. Its an Exco secret~!!! hehehe....
End of the day... slacking outside an empty chalet.... and what the hell is Shirlene doing???
FOC here we come~!!!

SIM Freshmen Orientation Day

It has been quite an eventful week for me. Had our Freshmen Orientation on Tue and Wed. It went on well as planned and we were really enjoying ourselves. Sign-up rate for the Freshmen Orientation Camp was also overwhelming. I guess we can look forward to lots of fun~!
Games taking place at Lvl 1.
The Exco @ FOD. Finally able to take a beak to take some photos.
The Exco trying to look "serious"... haha... All smiling so sweetly, how to be serious???
The is more like us. The original funky exco~!
After the whole event, we went to Mind's Cafe to celebrate Jing's birthday. Spend a large amount of time initially talking about work, until we finally decided that we were hungry and need to eat. Ate some finger food to temporarily suppress our hunger.

We played "You must be an Idiot!". It was fun and from that game, we now know who are the cunning ones and the blur ones... hahaha...
The other game is one that requires you to show the hand sign that is shown in a set of cards... haha... another funny one. Ahmad is forever slow, and Cindiie and Sharon can coordinate their hands... hahaha... damn funny to see them make all kind of mistakes!

Dee didn't seem to be relaxing and having as much fun, as she looked pretty stressed. I guess that's probably because she has alot of manpower issue to settle and all the datelines are drawing nearer. Shirlene wasn't looking too good too. The food and camp T-shirt issues are probably driving her up the wall too. Cheer up ladies. We will always be there to help~!!!

Went to a prata shop nearby after that to have dinner. Food not exactly nice, but I guess everyone is just too hungry to care.

Tired already.... going to sleep.....zzzZZzzZzzz

Stupid Laptop...

I'm finally back in action again~! Stupid laptop died on me again. This time round its more serious. Harddisk crashed, RAM damaged, serious Virus attack... Sighz... ended up spending about $250 on all the parts and components. Bought the original Norton Antivirus Software too. I've learned my lesson the hard and expensive way. Better to spend a little money for protection, than to end up spending huge amounts for repairs later.

Its been very busy for me as usual. Freshmen Orientation Days will take place tomorrow and Wednesday. After so much meetings and planning, the day has finally come. Hopefully everything will turn out well and as planned. FOC coming up next and its another big event for the Excos. Its not easy but its gonna be fun. Looking forward to it.

Updates

Getting lazier these days. Don't feel like doing anything. Too lazy to blog also. I think the best thing to do these days is to sleep.... haha... Don't wanna type much... let the pictures do the talking....
Went to Dave's Baby First Month Celebration. Many others were there too and it was like a mini-gathering for us. Dave's baby is super cute... haha.. oh and his name is Davian *not sure of the spelling* The rationale for the name is simply: Dave + Vivian = Davian... haha... quite cool right... =)
Had a meeting with the Exco on Wednesday night. Planning for FOD and FOC. Its always fun to work with them. Serious work, yet having fun at the same time. Looking forward to the FOD on 11th July. It will be fun~!!!
Briefing for the OGLs and GMs on Saturday. After that, we had a mini-meeting on some FOC stuffs. Everyone is cracking their head and brainstorming for ideas.
And Lionel went to his little corner to mediate. He can think best in this position... hahahaha....
Went to Paulaner at Millenia Walk to watch movie with Martin, Din, Francis, Kexin and Jas. Martin sit like he was in a kopitiam.... -_-". Anyway, England is out~! Yeah~!!!
